WHAT WE DO:
SEISMIC DESIGN COMPETITION (SDC)
STRUCTURAL DESIGN & ANALYSIS
Using industry softwares such as SAP2000 to predict and optimize the structural performance of a structure when subjected to earthquake ground motions. Iterate on multiple structural systems.
|
ARCHITECTURE & 3D MODELING
Working with the structural system, design an architectural facade and floor plans inspired by the community. Rhino, Lumion, and Photoshop, are used to produce a realistic render.
|
CONSTRUCTION & MATERIAL TESTING
Coordinate construction process of a balsa wood model. Test material properties, prepare construction drawings and quantity takeoffs, and create laser cut members and fabricated jigs.
|
ENCOURAGE LEARNING, BUILD LEADERS
The objective of the EERI USC Student Chapter is to promote the study and practice of earthquake engineering, science, planning and policy, by improving inter-disciplinary communication and raising community awareness about the dangers of earthquakes and methods to mitigate their effects.
COMPANY SESSIONSOur members are encouraged to further develop leadership and interpersonal skills, expand their practical experience, and receive valuable networking opportunities with recognized professionals during company-sponsored information sessions or office visits.
|
EDUCATION SEMINARSHosted by visiting professionals, earthquake engineering experts, or fellow students--our education seminars keep members up to date with the latest softwares and developments in earthquake and structural engineering.
|
TEAM BUILDINGOur club relies on collaboration, communication, and strong dedication from all members. We work to foster an environment where all students can contribute and become leaders. At USC EERI-SEAOSC, the connections we construct are just as important as our structures.
